New Drywall Installation in Wilmington NC

New drywall installation is where craftsmanship really shows. A clean hang job, flat seams, tight inside corners, and a smooth Level 4 or Level 5 finish are the foundation of every great-looking room. We hang and finish new drywall for additions, garage conversions, basement finishes, and full remodels throughout Wilmington and coastal NC.

What We Install

We use 1/2-inch standard drywall for typical walls and ceilings, 5/8-inch fire-rated drywall for garage walls shared with living space and other code-required areas, and mold-resistant green or purple board for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements. We hang horizontally on walls (best for hiding seams), screw at proper spacing into every stud, and back-block butt joints to prevent future cracks.

Finish Levels

Level 4 is the standard finish — three coats of compound over taped seams, sanded smooth, ready for paint. It's the right choice for textured walls, painted walls in low-to-medium light, and most residential work. Level 5 adds a full skim coat across the entire surface, producing a glass-smooth wall suitable for gloss paint, high-light rooms, and modern design. We quote both and recommend the right level for each room.

Coordinating With Other Trades

On new construction and remodels we coordinate with electricians, plumbers, HVAC, and insulation crews to make sure all rough-ins are complete and inspected before we hang. We pull and check for nail plates, recessed lights, vents, and bath fans, and we cut openings precisely so finish trades don't have to fight us afterward.

What's Included

  • Code-compliant installation
  • Level 4 or Level 5 finishes
  • Coordination with other trades

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to drywall a room?+

A typical 12×12 bedroom takes 1 day to hang, 3–4 days to tape and finish (three coats with overnight drying), and 1 day to sand and prep. Total: about 5–7 working days.

Do you handle the insulation too?+

We can coordinate with an insulation subcontractor or you can hire one directly. We don't install insulation ourselves but we won't hang drywall until insulation is complete and inspected.

What's the difference between Level 4 and Level 5?+

Level 4 finishes the seams and screw heads only. Level 5 adds a full skim coat across the entire wall for a perfectly smooth surface. Level 5 costs 30–50% more and is recommended for high-light rooms and gloss paint.

Do you install drywall in garages?+

Yes. Garage walls shared with living space must be 5/8-inch fire-rated and taped to code. We handle this routinely.

Can you match new drywall to existing walls in a remodel?+

Yes. We blend new and existing drywall at the transitions and match the existing texture and finish level.
