Drywall FAQ

Honest answers to the questions Wilmington homeowners ask most.

How much does drywall repair cost in Wilmington, NC?+

Most small drywall repairs in Wilmington cost $150–$400. Larger jobs involving water damage or full panel replacement run $400–$1,500. We provide free flat-rate estimates before any work begins.

How long does drywall repair take?+

Small patches: 2–4 hours plus a quick return for the finish coat. Most repairs span two visits because joint compound has to dry overnight between coats.

Are you licensed and insured?+

Yes. Wilmington Drywall Pros is licensed in North Carolina and carries $2M general liability and workers' compensation insurance.

Do you offer free estimates?+

Yes. Every estimate is free and there's no obligation to book. We can give a phone quote for simple repairs or come to your home for larger jobs.

What areas do you serve?+

Wilmington, Leland, Hampstead, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Southport, Oak Island, Bolivia, Holly Ridge, Surf City, and Jacksonville, NC.

Can you match my wall texture?+

Yes. We match knockdown, orange peel, popcorn, smooth Level 5, and skip-trowel textures. Texture matching is one of our core specialties.

Can I get same-day drywall repair?+

Often yes for small to medium jobs. Call us in the morning and we can usually get a crew out by afternoon.

Do you remove popcorn ceilings?+

Yes. We scrape, skim coat smooth, sand, and prime. We always test for asbestos on pre-1980 ceilings before scraping.

How do I prepare for the drywall crew?+

Move small valuables out of the work area. We bring drop cloths, tarps, and dust containment for everything else.

Will there be dust?+

Some, but much less than traditional sanding. We use HEPA-vacuum sanders that capture most airborne dust at the source.

Can you work in occupied homes?+

Yes. Most of our residential work happens in occupied homes. We contain dust, work clean, and stage materials in one area.

Do you do new construction drywall?+

Yes. Full hang and finish for additions, garage conversions, basement finishes, and whole-home projects.

What's the difference between Level 4 and Level 5 finish?+

Level 4 finishes seams and screws only. Level 5 adds a full skim coat across the entire wall for a perfectly smooth surface. Level 5 is recommended for high-light rooms and gloss paint.

Can you repair water-damaged drywall after a hurricane?+

Yes. We're called constantly after coastal storms. We map the moisture extent, remove all wet material, treat for mold, and rebuild with mold-resistant board.

Do you offer warranties on your work?+

Yes. We warranty all repairs against defects for one year. If a properly-diagnosed repair fails, we come back at no charge.

How do I pay?+

Cash, check, and all major credit cards. For larger projects we accept progress payments tied to milestones.

Do you work weekends?+

Yes for commercial after-hours work and for residential emergencies. Standard residential schedules are Mon–Sat.

Can you handle plaster walls in historic homes?+

We repair plaster-and-lath walls in older Wilmington and Southport homes, including transitioning between plaster and drywall sections.

What if I'm not happy with the work?+

We don't leave a job until you're satisfied. Our flashlight-inspection step catches problems before we walk away, and we stand behind every repair with a written warranty.
